CDR bids for F3 Cup double

Chris Dittmann Racing heads to Snetterton this weekend (October 8-9) for the F3 Cup season finale still in contention for a double championship victory.

The reigning teams’ champion lies third in the standings in its quest to retain the title, with three races pencilled for the Norfolk visit. The Tewkesbury outfit will need to overturn a 108-point deficit.

In the drivers’ standings Stuart Wiltshire also sits third, 46 points back from the top spot. Each driver must drop their three worst scores, and with two non-finishes he loses the 14 points from Donington-hosted round two. But such has been Wiltshire’s consistency, the gap to first increases by one point – he’ll therefore need to make up 47 points. Ninety points remain up for grabs at the circuit where the Londoner claimed his maiden podium in 2014.

He’s recovered from the broken foot he was suffering with at the recent Silverstone round, so he’s well placed for a late title charge.

Team-mate Tony Bishop suffered contact from behind at Silverstone and was forced to retire, so he’ll be looking to bounce back at Snetterton to climb back up the championship standings. He currently lies 10th.

Chris Dittmann, team principal, said: “It’ll be difficult, but if Stuart and Tony perform as we know they can then you never know what might in the teams’ championship. We’re the outsiders, but we’ll give the guys the best base to build on and the best chance possible.

“Snetterton in October is always tough, weather often comes into play, too. We know we have race-winning potential – that’s all we can do. From then it’s over to Stuart and Tony. “
